India’s Maruti Suzuki April-June net profit 4.65 bln rupees

MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) – Indian carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. posted a net profit of 4.65 billion rupees ($109 million) for the three months to June.
The company posted a net profit of 4.99 billion rupees in the corresponding period of the previous year but the figures are not comparable because of an “additional impact of 619 million rupees from the new depreciation policy introduced in the fourth quarter of 2007-08″.
The company, a unit of Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corp., said its total income, net of excise duty, in the in the quarter amounted to 47.31 billion rupees, equating to growth of 20.9 percent year-on-year.
Maruti said vehicle sales in the quarter grew 13.5 percent year-on-year.
Exports in the quarter to June grew 37.8 percent to 12,491 units from 9,065 units a year earlier.
