South African mobile phone operator MTN Group and India’s Reliance Communications may continue their tie-up talks beyond Tuesday’s deadline, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.
MTN and Reliance agreed in May to 45 days of exclusive negotiations to create a global 10 telecoms company, which end on Tuesday. The companies may extend the talks by a few more weeks, the newspaper said in its website edition. Read the rest of this entry »

FRANKFURT, Germany – Daimler AG and India’s Hero Group said Monday they have selected Chennai for a commercial vehicle plant that will produce around 70,000 trucks per year starting in 2010.
Construction of the plant involves an investment of some 700 million euros ($1.1 billion) over the next five years, the companies said in a statement. Read the rest of this entry »

MUMBAI, July 7 – Indian engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro said on Monday it had received an order worth 4.46 billion rupees from JSW Power Transco for transmission lines in western India.
The project in Maharashtra state is expected to be completed in 18 months, it said in a statement.

MUMBAI, July 7 – Reliance Communications , a source said a day before its period of exclusive talks with South Africa’s MTN Group ends, which an analyst said may mean a deal has not been struck yet.
Reliance Industries, India’s most valuable firm, has staked a right of first refusal on Reliance Communications’ shares, but India’s No. 2 mobile firm maintains that Reliance Industries’ claims were untenable, a source close to the development said.
