India’s Tata Steel in joint venture for power plant

MUMBAI, June 16 – India’s Tata Steel Ltd said on Monday it had formed a joint venture with Jasper Industries Ltd to set up a 135 megawatt power plant in the eastern state of Orissa.

The company said it and wholly owned subsidiary Rawmet Ferrous Industries Ltd would hold 26 percent in the project, and Japser Industries would hold the remaining 74 percent.

Tata Steel did not give the value of the project or other details.
