MyScreen Opens Subsidiary in India to Enter $11.8BLN Mobile Market

TORONTO, May 20, 2008 (PrimeNewswire via COMTEX) —-MyScreen Mobile, Inc. United and Jet sign codeshare agreement

NEW YORK – United Airlines and Jet Airways have signed a codeshare service agreement on flights between the U.S. and India, the airlines said Monday.

The airlines have filed the agreement with the Department of Transportation, and, pending approval, expect the program to begin by about November.

Under the agreement, each airline will sell tickets for flights operated by the other. United will offer flights to 13 cities in India, and Jet Airways will offer flights to 25 cities in the U.S. Source CNBC.com

India’s Educomp Solutions buys 51 pct in U.S. co Learning.com for $24.5 mln`

MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) – India-based Educomp Solutions Ltd. said it acquired 51 percent in U.S.-based web-delivered curriculum provider, Learning.com for $24.5 million.

Educomp said Learning.com, which offers Web-delivered curriculum and assessment, serves nearly two million students in schools across the United States.

With the recent acquisition of Singapore-based Ask n Learn, Educomp said it hopes to bring the entire suite of its intellectual property to schools in the United States and to take Learning.com’s products to its 4 million users in India and south-east Asia. Source CNBC.com

India’s Suven Life gets two product patents in South Africa and China

MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) – India-based Suven Life Sciences Ltd. said it has been granted two product patents, one each in South Africa and China, for its new chemical treatments for disorders
associated with neuro-degenerative diseases.

The South African patent is valid until 2024 and the other until 2025.

India’s Suzlon may consider part stake sale in Repower but no firm plans

MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) – India’s Suzlon Energy Ltd. said it may consider selling part of its stake in Germany’s Repower Systems AG., as it announced higher fourth-quarter profits. Chairman and managing director Tulsi Tanti however said there are no “firm plans” for a Repower stake sale at this point of time.

Suzlon currently currently holds 33.66 percent in Repower.

The wind-turbine maker reported net profit for the quarter to end-March of 4.57 billion rupees from 3.59 billion a year earlier, while sales rose to 49.24 billion rupees from 29.16 billion. It declared a final dividend of 1 rupee. Read the rest of this entry »

Esmark says Essar deal followed contract rules

Esmark Inc. said Tuesday that its negotiations with India’s Essar Steel Holdings Ltd. did not violate the “right to bid” process included in its contract with the United Steelworkers union.

The union sent a letter on Friday to the steelmaker and distributor demanding that it scrap its agreements with Essar, claiming the $670 million buyout offer violates the union’s contract with Esmark.

Larsen Secures 6.35 Billion Rupee Electrical Project

Larsen & Toubro Ltd., India’s biggest engineering company, won 6.35 billion rupees ($149 million) of electrical orders in the Middle East, benefiting from an oil- driven construction boom. The Abu Dhabi Water & Electrical Authority placed 5.21 billion of orders for building five power substations and laying cables, Mumbai-based Larsen said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange today.
